Tuition Fees, Scholarships, and Financial Assistance
Tuition fees for primary and secondary educations vary according to school types and level of education. Whether your children are permanent Hong Kong residents or living in Hong Kong on a dependent visa, they enjoy the same tuition fees.
Generally, international schools and private independent schools charge relatively higher tuition fees and other miscellaneous fees (such as levies and debentures) as they operate on a self-financing basis. For the schools under Direct Subsidy Scheme, they may collect school fees besides receiving government subsidies for providing additional supportive services and campus facilities for students.
Some of the international schools, all private independent schools and schools under Direct Subsidy Scheme are required to earmark at least 10% of their school fees for scholarship, financial assistance, or fee remission for deserving students. The 10% should be utilised as much as possible and as fair as possible. There are various scholarship and financial assistance schemes at each school – they could be prioritising students with sport talent, music talent, or academic achievement, etc. You may go on individual school website for more details and in-time updates.
