About the School

The YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College ("YHKCC") was established in September 2003, making it the first secondary school sponsored by the YMCA of Hong Kong. Operating under the Direct Subsidy Scheme, our school offers an international styled education utilizing English as the medium of instruction. We take pride in being the only English-medium school in the islands district of Hong Kong. In addition to the Hong Kong curriculum (HKDSE), we also offer the international GCE A-level curriculum in Forms 5 & 6.

YHKCC currently welcomes approximately 66% international students from over 40 countries, creating a dynamic and multicultural environment. The diversity within our school community is a significant strength. All our teachers are university graduates, with 44% of them holding master's qualifications. Around 40% of our teachers are from overseas, representing countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Japan, India, Korea, Australia, Nigeria, and the Philippines. Their presence enriches our students' education by sharing their country's history and culture, providing valuable preparation for life in today's globalized world.

The vision and mission of our school are rooted in providing quality education based on Christian faith and values within a joyful and stimulating environment. Our goal is to empower our students to become confident and happy "global citizens," fostering equal respect for and understanding of different cultures. Furthermore, we are dedicated to developing our school based on the CARES principles, while nurturing and educating each student to excel in their learning, and fostering the 14 intellectual character dispositions outlined in the YHKCC Learner Profile. Our classrooms adopt a student-centered approach, where students are not only well-prepared for university applications and academic excellence but are also educated to be upright and respectful individuals, guided by the school's five core values.

At YHKCC, students receive a holistic education that caters to their overall development. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities to enrich their experience and prepare them to be future leaders. A comprehensive pastoral care system is in place to address the diverse individual learning needs of our students and support their personal growth and development.

* Information on each school profile is compiled by Education Bureau based on voluntary contributions by the schools and their return to the annual enrolment survey conducted by Education Bureau. Any enquiries should be addressed to the schools directly.
